Mrs. Bruce was born and reared in Santa Anna in Coleman County, Texas. She was active in the Edwards Plateau Historical Association and the Coleman County Historical Commission. She authored several books on the area she knew best, Coleman County. The collection contains photographs of the Santa Anna area, correspondence and advertisements, and three copies of Santa Anna's Peak by Mrs. Bruce.
